In the afternoon of December 18, 2020, Gu Weiqiang, the current director of the Supervision and Judicial Committee of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Congress, the former secretary of the Party Leadership Group and president of the Second Intermediate People’s Court of Shanghai, and the vice president of the Shanghai Higher People’s Court, was invited to attend a series of lectures sponsored by the Shanghai Hongkou District Law Working Committee and undertaken by Shanghai Zhonghua Law Firm. In order to implement the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee, A special lecture entitled “Judges and Lawyers in the Judicial Reform” was delivered. Comrade Wang Hao, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Judicial Bureau of Hongkou District, Shanghai, was invited to attend the lecture. The lecture was presided over by lawyer Xue Guocai, Deputy Director of the Legal Working Committee of Hongkou District and Director of Shanghai Zhonghua Law Firm. The lecture was divided into two parts: “the current situation of judicial system reform” and “judges and lawyers”.

As for the “current situation of judicial system reform”, Comrade Gu Weiqiang described the three aspects of governing the country by law as a historic achievement of the country, the important position of judicial reform in governing the country by law, and Shanghai as a pioneer of judicial reform system, and affirmed the achievements and achievements of Shanghai in judicial system reform. Based on the three levels, it provides and guides the research direction for legal workers. This research direction is “judicial system reform is a specific requirement under the rule of law strategy. For our front-line legal workers, the main research object is the path and method of rule of law, and we need to study the ship and bridge to achieve the goal.”
